About us
Hi! we are Colin and Katrina
Welcome to a place in Sardinia
We have been coming to Sardinia on holiday off and on for almost 20 years. And about 5 years ago we realised that it was the only place that we kept coming back to.
Since that time we have been looking for a place in Sardinia to call our own and ultimately with the assistance of a well known overseas property TV show we ended up with a place in Sardinia.
We rent out the apartment when we are not using it, so do get in touch if you are interested in experiencing a week or two of this lifestyle. Note that this property is managed by us privately. We do not rent as a trade, business or profession. EU consumer law relating to professional hosts will not apply.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where is Sardinia?
Sardinia is just south of Corsica in the Mediterranean sea about 220 kilometres from Rome and 200 kilometres from Sicily at the closest points.
2. What is the weather in Sardinia?
In the summer, July and August are the hottest months, with the weather records showing an average maximum temperature for the last 10 years of 31 Celsius although reportedly temperatures can spike up to 40 Celsius in August. This often around 15 August which coincidentally is the Italian public holiday of Ferragosto and a popular Italian holiday period.
June and September tend to be more like a warm English summer.
The average temperatures in nearby Olbia for each month from April to October are listed below (these are averages and I have occasionally known it 10 degrees hotter than the highs and 10 degrees colder than the lows!) :
- April: around 13°C (59°F) – daily high 19°C, nightly low 9°C
- May: around 17°C (64°F) – daily high 23°C, nightly low 12°C
- June: around 22°C (72°F) – daily high 28°C, nightly low 16°C
- July: around 24°C (77°F) – daily high 31°C, nightly low 19°C
- August: around 25°C (79°F) – daily high 27°C, nightly low 16°C
- September: around 21°C (73°F) – daily high 23°C, nightly low 12°C
- October: around 17°C (68°F) – daily high 18°C, nightly low 8°C
3. Is the apartment suitable for children?
The apartment is a first floor apartment and so children need to be supervised on the terrace of the apartment and outside the apartment on the walkways and stairs.
The condominium itself is often full of families and has a nice family atmosphere. The swimming pool, the short walk to the beach and the onsite café mean that you don’t have to get in the car unless you want to.
4. Which airport is closest?
Olbia airport is 8 miles or 10 kilometres south of Marinella. It is served with direct flights from UK by Easyjet and British Airways. Ryanair has direct flights into Alghero airport which is about a two hour journey by hire car.
5. What is the Covid-19 situation in Sardinia?
According to the UK government website, there are no COVID-19-related travel restrictions to enter Italy in 2024. Some venues, such as health facilities, still require you to wear face masks. They advise exercising normal safety precautions in Italy.
6. Do you need a car?
You don’t necessarily need a car but we would recommend it (We always use discovercars.com). You can get a bus into Olbia from the airport and then a train to Marinella. The train takes about 15 minutes, costs less than two euros, but only runs from about 7am to 7pm. It is run by Trenitalia and you can book online via the web and mobile ticketing via an app.
There is a wonderful beach plus shops, cafes and restaurants near the condominium but many of the interesting places and facilities are in local towns to which you would often need to drive. Roads tend not to have pavements and the buses and trains don’t tend to run after 7pm.
7. Do you have air conditioning?
There is no air conditioning but we do have electric fans. The apartment windows don’t face the sun and the large sliding door to the terrace is double glazed.

Sardinia is often referred to as an Italian jewel in the Mediterranean Sea.
Visitors can easily fall in love with this jewel.
