Availability
Check Flights
Easily check flights with Skyscanner.net. Enter your country (e.g. UK) as the departure point to see flights from all airports and add Olbia, Italy as the destination (just select these from the drop down lists) and your holiday dates. Note that this will take you to the Skyscanner.net website.
Car Hire Quotes
Easily get car hire quotes with Discover Cars – just click here. Obviously many other car hire search engines are available but we have found Discover Cars to be honest, helpful, good value and you can just pay a deposit on booking rather than the whole amount upfront. For full disclosure we are an affiliate of Discover Cars and we will receive a small commission if you book a car with them.
Car Hire Booking
Discover Cars will trawl through all the cars available from different local operators and will provide a list of alternatives. I suggest that you make sure that you book with a car hire operator that is based at Olbia airport terminal. There are probably about 15 car hire companies with an office and cars directly adjacent to the Olbia airport arrivals area. The alternative is to wait for a shuttle bus to take you to an off-airport car hire company location. Whatever they say, for off-airport car hire operators you will always have to wait for a shuttle bus and it will delay you on arrival and departure.
Cheap Car Hire Excess Cover
If you book car hire, don’t choose their car excess cover. Look at the Money Saving Expert website to find the best and cheapest independent cover. With a separate excess cover policy, if you have a problem the cost will be charged to your credit card but you will then be reimbursed. The reimbursement won’t be instant, there are forms to fill in and you may have to wait days/weeks/possibly months to get your money back, so this is not suitable if you can’t afford to pay the excess in the short term. I personally use this type of policy (as an annual policy) and have had occasion to claim. Although it was a bit of a hassle submitting the claim, I received full reimbursement and have over the years saved a lot of money, compared to the cost of excess cover from the car hire companies, but still had peace of mind that the excess was covered. For full disclosure we have no affiliation with Money Saving Expert but hopefully their recommendations will help you.
On site facilities:
Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is just on the other side of the paved square behind the apartment. The pool is fenced in, has showers and during the hours that it is open has a swimming pool attendant. There are sun beds and umbrellas around the pool. The pool is for residents only.
The opening times for the swimming pool vary depending on the season but during the summer it is open from at least 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Cafe Bar Restaurant

Opened Summer 2022
The onsite cafe is on the opposite side of the car park to the apartment, quite close to the car parking space for the apartment. It is open all day for food, drinks snacks and ice creams.
Hairdresser

Annalisa Hair Dressing Salon
Annalisa, the hairdresser, is located on site next to the square at the condominium offering a hairdressing salon and a beautician.

The Beach: Spiaggia di Marinella
The beach is about 350 metres from the apartment and is about a 5 minutes walk down a path from the gate on the right of the swimming pool enclosure. The beach is the Spiaggia di Marinella. There is not a huge amount of parking and so it is not really possible for it to get swamped with people who are not staying in the area even at the height of the summer which is mid-August. The beach is well kept and has plenty of facilities. There are several 4 star and 5 star hotels that are near the beach and they maintain areas of sunbeds for their residents and other areas where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. The sunbed services also rake the sand and clear away any seaweed. Although you see plenty of umbrellas it is not like sardines on the beach. There are also plenty of areas where you can just put your towels down on the beach or put up your own umbrella so you don’t need to rent sunbeds. The water is a beautiful colour and is warm (21-25 degrees Celsius in June to October). The sand is whitish yellow and varies in fineness across the beach to almost floury at the north end of the beach but it isn’t pebbly.

Marinella Train Station

The Marinella train station is less than 400 metres from the condominium and it is on a line that runs from Olbia to Golfo Aranci. It only runs from about 7am to 7pm and so it means that you don’t always need to have a car. It does also have a stop at Cala Sabina beach which is about 3km east along the coast. Tickets can be bought online at Trenitalia.com.
Porto Marana: the local marina
At the south end of Marinella beach there is a marina. There is a boat building business there alongside the marina but also restaurants, a few shops and a gelateria (ice-cream shop). We recommend the Il Nodo restaurant café for a meal and also Venti Quattro. Il Nodo has good food and is a family run business. Venti Quattro looks down over the marina and has a very good chef. The gelateria is always popular with our family. You can sit outside and watch the activity in the marina. If you look at the boats and feel that you would like to go out on a boat trip, you can enquire at the diving shop in the port who run diving and snorkeling trips. There are many more trips available in Golfo Aranci. There are some local boat owners who can take you out for a private boat trip in a 7 person RIB for example to visit the many islands and beaches up and down the coast.

Marana Town
Just beyond Porto Marana (after coming south along the beach from the condominium) there is a small car park with a grocery shop and beyond the car park you will find an archway through a building that has a restaurant that also does takeaway pizzas that you can order in the bar. There is also a church and a pharmacy. You can also get to Marana by turning left at the roundabout when leaving the condominium going past the train station on the right, then left at the roundabout and right at the next roundabout. You will see a sign for Borgo Marana on the left after continuing past the left turning for the marina. The distance from the condominium is just over one kilometer.
Marana Cafe, Pizzeria and Bar

The Marana Cafe is really 3 establishments with the restaurant (and take away), the cafe with television that shows quite a few popular sports matches (popular particularly to Italians) and the bar. The take away pizzas are very good, cost in the range of €8 to €12, are cooked to order and are ready very quickly. The cafe and bar also sell take away ice creams with a range of flavours.
Take away Pizza
If you order a takeaway pizza (Pizza Da Asporto), the bar is very convenient to have a drink while you wait but you’ll be surprised by how quickly the food is cooked! Unless you are very thirsty, the pizza will arrive before you finish your drink.
Cash Machine
The Marana Cafe also has a cash machine in operation in the summer period.
Marana Supermarket
You will see the Marana supermarket next to the car park. It is probably the best shop that is a walkable distance from the apartment. It has a full range of the food and drink that the Italians like. It is a bit more expensive than the out of town supermarkets like Eurospin, Lidl and Conad but not by too much.
Marana Pharmacy.

The pharmacy is next to the church beyond the supermarket and the Marana Cafe. The staff are professional and helpful and speak a little English.
Marana Bakery
Up the alley on the right hand side of the pharmacy is a small bakery/cafe that is open every morning from 7:30am and the morning’s baking is available from about 8:00am.
Porto Rotundo
The beautiful port of Porto Rotundo is about a mile and a half from the condominium. It is a great place to go and look at some of the superyachts and to sit with an ice cream, a beer or a coffee and watch the world go by.

The condominium is designed and maintained to a high standard.
